I shall not see the shadows, I shall not feel the rain I shall not hear the nightingale Sing on, as if in pain And dreaming through the twilight That doth not rise nor set,   Haply I may remember, And haply may forget.       사랑하는 님이여, 내가 죽으면 슬픈 노래는 부르지 마세오. 장미꽃도, 그늘 드리우는 사이프러스 나무도 제 무덤 머리 맡엔 심지 말고, 비와 이슬 머금은 푸른 잔디만 제 무덤 위에 자라게 해 주세요. 그리고 마음이 내키시면 절 기억해 주세요, 아니, 잊으셔도 돼요. 나무 그늘도 보지 못하고, 비도 느끼지 못할 거예요. 슬픔에 젖은, 나이팅게일새의 노래도 듣지 못할거예요. 황혼을 지나 꿈속에서...... 어느날 우연히 당신을 기억해 낼지도, 아니 그냥 잊어버릴지도 모르죠.
